Smooth Transition Between Different Floor Heights
The A01 is designed specifically for situations where two adjoining flooring surfaces have a small difference in height.
Its gently sloped ramp shape bridges the change in level, helping create a smoother transition underfoot while covering the flooring joint and protecting exposed floor edges.
The profile is suitable for height differences of approximately:
Up to 3mm between adjoining floor surfaces.
For larger differences in floor height, a wider ramp or adjustable door threshold may be more suitable.
Suitable Flooring Types
The A01 aluminium transition profile can be used with a wide range of suitable hard flooring surfaces, including:
- Vinyl flooring
- LVT – Luxury Vinyl Tile
- Lino
- Laminate flooring
- Engineered wood
- Wood flooring
- Tiles
- Other suitable hard floor coverings
Typical applications include transitions such as:
- Vinyl to vinyl
- Vinyl to laminate
- LVT to laminate
- LVT to tile
- Laminate to laminate
- Laminate to tile
- Wood to laminate
- Other slightly different floor levels
Strong Aluminium Construction
The A01 is manufactured from durable aluminium, providing a strong and stable transition between adjoining flooring surfaces.
The metal construction makes it suitable for frequently used areas while maintaining a slim and discreet appearance.
Its 30mm width provides enough coverage for the flooring joint without creating an unnecessarily wide threshold across the doorway.
Secure Screw-Fix Installation
The A01 features pre-drilled fixing holes, making positioning and installation straightforward.
Each profile is supplied with screws and plugs:
- 0.9m threshold – 4 screws and 4 plugs
- 2.7m threshold – 12 screws and 12 plugs
Using the supplied plugs is recommended where suitable, as they can provide a more secure fixing and reduce unnecessary stress on the screws during installation.
Installation Instructions
Step 1 – Measure & Cut
Measure the width of the doorway or flooring transition and mark the required length.
The aluminium profile can be cut using a fine-tooth hacksaw or another suitable metal-cutting tool.
Carefully remove any burrs or sharp edges after cutting.
Step 2 – Position the Threshold
Place the profile over the flooring joint and make sure the ramp sits correctly between the two adjoining floor surfaces.
Use the existing pre-drilled holes in the threshold to mark the fixing positions.
Step 3 – Drill the Fixing Holes
Remove the threshold and drill suitable fixing holes in the subfloor.
Insert the supplied plugs where appropriate for the type of floor or subfloor being fixed into.
Step 4 – Secure the Profile
Reposition the threshold and secure it using the supplied screws.
Tighten the screws evenly along the profile without overtightening.
Important Fixing Information
We recommend using the supplied plugs wherever they are suitable for the floor construction.
If you choose to install the threshold using screws without plugs, suitable pilot holes may be required, particularly when fixing into harder materials.
Driving a screw directly into a hard surface without an appropriate pilot hole can place excessive stress on the fixing and may cause the screw head to snap.
Always select the fixing method appropriate for the flooring and subfloor material.
